Design and detail for Super 8

The Building
In the Welcome Hall of the new Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre on Grattan Street sits the Super 8 Café.  The Super 8 fit out is very much in keeping with the new Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre that houses Peter Mac.  The building designed by architects from Silver Thomas Hanley, DesignInc and McBride Charles Ryan features opens spaces, majestic floor to ceiling windows and a 1400-square-metre garden.

The Reason
The team at Super 8 have created a relaxed place to eat, drink, meet or simply take time out in the common lounge area with huge digital screen installation.

‘We’ve worked on creating a place of compassion, recognising the hard work of the health professionals, but also providing a space for patients and carers to feel warm, comfortable and together’ says Pota Sakkas,  Super 8, Continental Hospitality Group Director.   ‘In achieving our vision all our suppliers raised the bar and the results are exactly the environment we wanted to provide’.

The Result
Vectron provided the Point Of Sale and CCTV solutions and installation for the Continental Hospitality Group. Vectron has worked on several of the groups venues, with all requiring meticulous attention to detail to ensure the hardware powering the software operating the cafés fits in with their particular interior design themes.

The Point of Sale
The design and installation of the nine Point of Sale terminals was given great attention to detail from the Vectron Team.  From incorporating the requirement for totally white fittings and cabling, all cabling is hidden from sight, as are the cash draws which are housed under the bench (white as well) in customised shelving.   The nine terminals were all especially powder coated to match in with interior.  Wall mounted terminals are all fixed with hidden brackets and cabling.

The CCTV
The intricate ceiling design meant standard ceiling mounted CCTV cameras were not an option.   Vectron sourced (white) extension poles to ensure the cameras could be properly positioned for best surveillance, in addition due to external building constraints cameras were positioned inside the café to monitor outdoor areas.

‘Vectron has worked with the Continental Hospitality Group on several of their sites’ says Danny Mihran, Vectron Business Development Manager, ‘It’s been so great to work with the group again especially on such a fantastic fit out. Our team worked hard to ensure we achieved the customers outcome and I couldn’t be prouder.’
